2014 Theme Word: New Life

For the past six years I have rung in the new year with a theme word in lieu of resolutions. It was something I picked up from Tara Hunt, my boss at the time. While many blogged about their theme word I simply tweeted mine out. As time moved on I started journaling for myself the thoughts, feelings, and expectations behind the theme word. It is quite powerful when you spend some time getting real with yourself about your life.

My past theme words have been:
2008 – transition
2009 – excel
2010 – refine – crush it – change
2011 – awake
2012 – release
2013 – heal

These words have been building blocks of sorts. Directions that God used to direct me to see the truth about my life. It has by no means been an easy process to get to my 2014 theme word. But I am here and have found immense freedom from the difficult journey.

Theme Word 2014: New Life

It feels almost cliche to have “new life” as my theme word given the time of the year. But it is exactly what I have been given. Who I am, how I think, how I act and react… I am not the same person I was a year ago, three years ago, or six years ago.

This is how I am moving in 2014. Forward as a new me. One with confidence, a sound mind, and faith that breathes. Nutritionally balanced and physically strong. Ready and open to new opportunities, experiences and challenges. But most importantly, only defined by the One who matters.

Sunrise at Haleakala
The sun comes up, it’s a new day dawning
It’s time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass, and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes
